Herbal remedies for Insomnia

There are various herbal remedies for insomnia, which help to allow a peaceful night's sleep. This is something that seems to elude an incredible amount of people, thus causing all sorts of disruption in daily life.

Insomnia can be triggered most obviously by stress, and stress is so often related to many other problems! It therefore means trying to eliminate the source of stress. This is easier said than done and really requires a lot of hard work. Stress is basically a resistance to acceptance of the way things are. Another cause for sleeplessness is eating too late in the evening. It is recommended from various authorities that we try and eat no later than three or four hours before going to bed. Then again, if I go to bed hungry my rumbling stomach keeps me awake all night!

I also think that doing an aerobics exercise class, or lane swimming for half an hour, is an excellent way to use up any pent up energy before going to bed. This is when I have my best night's sleep - when I have worked hard all day, then go to the swimming pool for a good long fairly energetic swim. Not just splashing around in the shallow end! I take my children and they benefit as well. There are many natural cures for insomnia such as taking a good diet, enough exercise, sorting out problems as and when they rise, meeting up with friends and ensuring your social life is satisfying, but at the end of the day, if you aren't getting enough sleep, perhaps these cures of insomnia will help.
