Herbal Remedies For Eczema

Eczema is a non-contagious skin condition where the skin is red, itchy, inflamed and sometimes with small red spots that appear as weeping blisters. As you can imagine from the description, it is an uncomfortable and unpleasant condition to experience.

It is extremely common and becoming more so nowadays. The general consensus of opinion to explain this surge in the occurrence of eczema is the increased use of toxic materials in our homes, such as cleaning products.

It is also thought that household dust is responsible, as well as food intolerances to foods such as dairy products, wheat and eggs.

Even the household pet can cause eczema.

Anxiety and tension also make matters worse, and so it is worth looking at alternative remedies and therapies to help dispel these feelings. In colour therapy, eczema can be relieved by using a calming, cooling coloured oil such as lavender or camomile, added to the bath water. I have direct experience of this working where all else has failed. My niece was a sufferer, and out of all the remedies she tried, the one that worked, and continues to work until this day, is the use of lavender oil in her bath.

In the elderly, poor circulation exacerbates the condition in the form of varicose eczema which can lead to varicose ulcers.

In a metaphysical sense, it is often seen in cases where people are suppressing their emotions, and so the 'weeping' skin condition is the outward manifestation of inward tears.

The following treatments are given here for you to try and hopefully at least one, or more of these suggestions will bring relief from this condition if you are troubled by it.

Make an infusion of equal amounts of red clover, heartsease, stinging nettle, skullcap and burdock. Drink a cup three times a day.

Use marigold or chamomile creams externally for dry eczema.

If the eczema is weeping, use equal amounts of heartsease and marigold (petals) in an infusion. The soak a compress in the mixture, after straining.

Use lavender oil or camomile essential oils in the bath.

Use blue silk draped over the area to cool and soothe the skin, and sip blue solarised water.

Allow yourself time and space to do the things you enjoy, expressing your creative side, and allowing yourself to speak the truth.
