Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach lining. It is often manifest when we have over-indulged in very rich foods and also alcohol. Some of the symptoms of gastritis are nausea and vomiting and diarrhoea. Chronic gastritis increases the risk of developing stomach or duodenal ulcers, and is often associated with smoking and alcoholism.

Treatment

Make an infusion of meadowsweet and chamomile and drink a cup up to four times a day.

Take two 200mg slippery elm tablets before meals.

If gastritis is linked to alcohol abuse, then take 5 ml or 1 teaspoonful of milk thistle tincture in water and repeat every three hours during the day.

Gastritis is usually a short-term problem. If symptoms persist, then seek medical attention.
