The seasons in Traditional Chinese Medicine have been linked to our health and wellbeing. Each season is thought to be linked to certain illnesses and health problems.
The winter season is linked with the colour black, which is mysterious and cold, and has the element of water. The health weaknesses of the winter personality is the kidneys and urinary system as well as problems with the skeletal system.
Summer is associated with the colour red which has the element of fire and heat. The body areas affected by this personality are the heart, small intestines and blood. So Summer personalities should take care of these parts of the body and pay extra attention to these areas.
The Spring season is associated with green, and has the element of Wood and wind. Spring people need to take care of the liver, gallbladder and muscular system.
The Autumn, or Fall, is linked with the element of Metal and dryness. The body areas it is linked to are the lungs, large intestine, skin and hair. Special attention should be given to these areas by the Autumn personality.
There is a fifth Chinese element that has no season in particular and that is the Earth element. It is situated at the centre of the cycle of the seasons and is related to the colour yellow. This element relates to stomach and spleen.
