Sleeplessness herbal remedies:
First of all, the cause can sometimes be very simple, such as an overly warm room with not enough fresh air, colic, or hunger. So before applying any remedy, check that the baby doesn't have colic and is not hungry and not too warm. Change nappies, give a cuddle and make sure baby feels safe and secure.<.P
If that doesn't help, then try the following.
Add a cup of chamomile infusion, or 2 drops of chamomile oil to the bath water each night. Swirl the water around with your hands to release the aroma of the chamomile which also helps baby feel better.
Gently massaging a baby/child can help bring about calmness. Apply a very dilute mix (1 drop chamomile oil in 20ml/4tsp sweet almond oil) to the skin before massaging, or rub into your hands before massaging.
Ensure that the baby's diet is adequate in the supply of vitamins and minerals. If you are breastfeeding, avoid caffeine as well as smoking and alcohol, and check for artifical colouring and flavourings. These can greatly affect a child's behaviour as is being shown more and more these days.
